With a brisk fall wind shuffling through a riotously colorful leafy canopy, we set off into the Catskill Mountain wilderness: 3 days, 3 peaks and 3 guys ready to hike.
Matt, his trusty pooch Sebastian, and myself traversed the Catskill Mountain’s highest peak (Slide Mountain, 4180 ft), Cornell Mountain (3860 ft) and Wittenberg Mountain (3780 ft). Lots of leg busting elevation change and at times nearly vertical scrambles up the trail.
Sun bolts tumbled through billowing clouds like fissures of light pouring onto a kaleidoscope of mountain leaves: candy-apple reds, honeydew yellows, burnt oranges.
The last foray of the year into the woods before the cold and snow overtake the last gasp of summer warmth.
